” This first leg still has plenty of surprises in store for us in terms of weather...” Last night, Team AMAALA had to contend with another windless episode, trapped on the crest of the high-pressure system. With just 5 knots of wind and the current straight ahead, Alan, Simon, Lucie and Félix performed a series of gybes along the restricted zone... slow progress that puts their nerves to the test.
"The wind shifts are not to our advantage, we are still losing miles to our competitors, but we remain focused. In ocean racing, you need to have strong nerves. One thing is certain, we are not rushing to eat, we are on a diet! We're all dreaming of a good English breakfast when we arrive, before moving on to the second leg."
Despite their tiredness, the crew remains united: helping each other, listening and precision in every manoeuvre. The end of the leg promises to be slow and technical, but extremely interesting!
