THE BOAT

IMOCA 60

Founded in 1991 and recognised by World Sailing (international sailing federation) since 1998, the International Monohull Open Class Association runs the 60 footer (18.28 metre) sailing class. IMOCA defines the rules that guarantee the sports equity by developing innovation and safety of boats considered today as the fastest and most powerful offshore racing monohulls.

The class contributes to the internationalisation of offshore racing and combines the notions of competition, innovation, human adventure and safety. In 2018, the Class inaugurated the IMOCA Globe Series, its four-year championship, now including two famous around the world races: the VendĂ©e Globe and The Ocean Race.

As it evolves, IMOCA strives to constantly develop collective reflection and innovation concerning environmental questions in order to adapt its rules and practises in favour of an ever more sustainable performance.
