Warming up with the Guyader Bermudes 1 000 Race

07.05.2022

The Guyader Bermudes 1 000 Race, the first race of the IMOCA 2022 championship, starts tomorrow at 2 PM. A 1,200 mile loop in the Bay of Biscay, with uncertain weather conditions – which shouldn’t be too harsh. Here’s the info to keep up with the event.

First competition for Alan Roura on board his new boat Hublot! A test that the young skipper will tackle as a warm-up, well aware that all eyes will be on him. “I’m still learning on board this boat, just getting my bearings after over a year without racing on IMOCAs”, reminds the 29-year-old Genevan. “The goal is to enjoy myself above all… Which won’t be easy seeing the weather forecast!” Calm winds and head winds may well give the pace to the 1,200 miles of the initial route between Brest, the Fastnet rock in the south of Ireland and a way-point off Cape Finisterre, to the north-west of Spain. Aiming to group arrivals between Thursday and Friday, the race organisation will have to take some decisions with only one certainty: the start is Sunday at 2 PM!
