It was an intense first night for the new Team AMAALA crew, who quickly found their feet as the wind shifted and the sails changed.
Despite the stifling heat, Alan, Conrad, Bex and Mathis spared no effort along the Spanish coast, and were still in contact with the fleet as they passed Ibiza this morning: "We didn't give up a meter, and it's paying off! It's a good job because we'd been upwind since the start, in fairly light winds, but we managed to hold on by making mini choices of position."
Well back on the group by mid-day, AMAALA even crossed paths with her Canada Ocean Racing playmates, before setting course for the north coast of Mallorca, within a small pack holding less than a mile apart. The regatta has only just begun!
